Why this costs what it costs
Shoulder labrum repair is an arthroscopic procedure to re-anchor the torn labrum to the glenoid rim using suture anchors. A typical case takes ninety to one hundred and twenty minutes of theatre time. Imaging review, suture anchors, instrumentation and surgical disposables make up a meaningful share of the cost.
At London Cartilage Clinic the procedure is performed by Charles Corbin, our consultant shoulder surgeon. The £16,000figure covers the surgeon’s time on the day, the consultant anaesthetist, theatre time, the suture anchors, and two post-operative reviews plus a six-month outcome review.

Why shoulder labrum repair at London Cartilage Clinic
Charles Corbin, consultant shoulder surgeon
Shoulder labrum repair at London Cartilage Clinic is led by Charles Corbin, our consultant shoulder and hand surgeon. The pre-operative consultation, surgery and post-operative reviews are all with Charles. The right operation for the right tear
Not every shoulder labrum tear needs surgery. Some respond to image-guided injection (PRP, mFat) and physiotherapy. Where surgery is the right answer (recurrent instability, mechanical symptoms, athlete-specific demands) we will offer it; where it is not, we will say so.Honest about outcomes
We will tell you, in writing at consultation, what the published outcome data says for shoulder labrum repair in your specific tear pattern. The price is the same whether the operation works as well as you hoped or not, so the honest conversation needs to happen before booking. The surgeon you see is the surgeon who operates
There is no transfer to a registrar or to another consultant between consultation and theatre.

International patients
Outcomes and what changes
Most patients are out of the sling by week six and return to most recreational activity by four to six months. Higher-impact activity (overhead sport, contact sport) is confirmed at the six-month review. Outcomes for traumatic labrum tears in active patients are generally better than for degenerative tears in older shoulders.
For partial or atraumatic tears, image-guided injection and physiotherapy are often the right starting conversation. We will be honest with you about what is appropriate for your specific tear before any surgical decision is made.
Patient stories
I had recurrent shoulder dislocations for years before the labrum repair with Charles. The repair held; six months on the shoulder feels stable for the first time in a decade.
